Irrigation change on Fairway and Boones Bend – All fixed and up and running

Because of the construction on Boones Bend and Fairway a main line was broken on Friday, so the houses on the south side of Fairway will not have Irrigation water this weekend.

Fairway Dr addresses affected

8260, 8250, 8240, 8220, 8210, 8200, 8180, 8150, 8140, 8100, 8090, 8080 & 8070 

A golf cart or something like it hit a filter late Friday afternoon on the golf course side of Red 5. Because of the damage Garron was forced to turn the irrigation off on Boones Bend, and it can’t be fixed till Monday.

Boones Bend addresses affected 

32465, 32445, 32435, 32425,32395, 32375, 32355, 32345, 32305, 32287,32279, 32271, 32255 & 32251 

The plan is to have all this fixed by the end of the day Monday.

What to do if you spot Honey Bees in CHOA

Please note that Honey Bees have been spotted in CHOA.

Here is a note from one of our neighbors – “Yesterday, Sunday May 27th…….Memorial Day weekend I was sitting by the F & G Pool about 4:00 when I noticed a swarm of bees on the side of the pool house.  They just appeared and swarmed for 30 to 60 minutes and then gathered on a bush to rest.  I thought they looked like honey bees (and they were).  I know that we shouldn’t destroy bees……….just report them.  Well, on Memorial weekend you can imagine how hard is was to get ahold of anyone for a non-emergency call.  Finally, I was in touch with “Debbie” in Woodland Washington (Preservation Bee Keeping) who gave me a local # (503-649-8577).  A very nice lady came out and was very happy that no one had tried to destroy the bees.  She gathered them in a box and asked if she could leave it over night, since as the weather cools most of the bees will get in the box.  She came before 7:00am this morning and took her bees”.

Charbonneau Country Club to host reception June 2nd at 3:00 for medically trained residents

Please note that the “Charbonneau Country Club Emergency Preparedness Committee invites you to join them for a glass of wine and catered hors d’oeuvres at a social gathering for medically trained residents (i.e., nurses, doctors, paramedics).  This gathering will take place on Saturday, June 2nd, at 3pm on the Garden Terrace at the Country Club.  Please RSVP by May 25 to Karen at 503-694-2300 or karen@charbonneaucountryclub.com.  Please pass this invitation on to your Charbonneau neighbors who are also medically trained.  We look forward to seeing you there”.

 

How much does CHOA pay in Earthquake Insurance?

At the Annual Meeting, the question was asked about how much of our recent premium increase in Insurance was related to Earthquake Coverage.

We heard back from Jay Puppo (our Insurance agent).   He said that 38% of our yearly premium is for earthquake coverage.

When will the Pools open

You may have noticed that the Pool furniture is out and the pool cover has been removed.

Per the Pool committee: Currently the Pools are being cleaned and will be ready and open on May 26th. Please have a great Memorial Weekend and enjoy your pool as you celebrate the start of the season

Emergency Preparedness at CHOA

Please note that a group of dedicated neighbors have developed a Disaster Preparedness plan to help all of CHOA in the case of a Disaster.   Below you will find some great information of what you need to do and who you need to contact.

Between May and July 2018, each household is being given a red booklet titled “Charbonneau Country Club Emergency Preparedness Plan,” in which you will find information about readiness planning for your own home.  In addition, there are specific, CHOA related materials included in the CCC packet for your reference and detailed below.

CHOA Disaster Plan

Core Principle: “Shelter in Place”

1 Stay in your home and take care of your family and household safety
2 Follow the guidelines in the CCC Emergency Preparedness Plan, starting with “What to Do NOW!
3 The CHOA Emergency Preparedness Team will gather at Rec Hall C, adjacent to the pool on Lafayette Way.
4 Emergency Preparedness Team members will begin checking all CHOA neighborhoods.
5 Households with the “HELP” sign displayed will be assisted first.
6 After assessing the impact of the disaster, the Emergency Preparedness Team members will develop a Disaster Response Plan.
7 The CHOA Disaster Response Plan details will be communicated either door-to-door or via available communication technology.

What To Do NOW!

  1. Take care of loved ones.
  2.  Protect your head, feet and hands.
  3. Check natural gas or propane.
  4. Shut off water at the house main.
  5. Place the HELP or OK sign.
  6. Put the fire extinguisher on the sidewalk.
  7. The CHOA Emergency Preparedness Team will gather at Rec Hall C and begin executing the Disaster Response Plan.
  8. Households with the “HELP” sign displayed will be assisted first.
  9. Details of The CHOA Disaster Response Plan will be communicated to you either door-to-door or via available communication technology.
